About testing and IP requirements
During the initial checks, the QA team identified that the use of the Eiffel Tower’s image violated copyright laws related to its illumination. The QA team filed a bug report on the issue and informed the project producer.
After discussion, the development team, in collaboration with legal advisors, found a way to keep the Eiffel Tower in the background without infringing on copyright.
Addressing this issue during the development stage, when the first checks were conducted on the build, was far less costly than correcting it at a later stage, when the violation might have been flagged by the company’s legal team.
During QA testing, we discovered a copyright issue with a background image: an illuminated Eiffel Tower. While the developers intended to use the image for visual enhancement, it violated copyright regulations regarding the use of the tower's lighting scheme.
During the creation of a computer game, the development team often encounters situations where an image, concept, or audio may infringe on copyright. Even though the team responsible for the legal aspects of the process monitors potential issues from the pre-production stage, sometimes something can still slip through and end up in the game.
